The application
Metropolis WEB is the management software for Information and Orientation services, made in-house by the Data Processing Center and the Research Center of Studio e Progetto 2, which over the years has constantly updated the programming language and architecture, so as to make the quality of the used technology and flexibility in accordance with the needs of users, operators of the Services and Clients.
Metropolis WEB allows the system of research, documentation and cataloguing of data and their transformation into information usable by the users to be functional, effective and fast, in order to permit the operators to be more efficient and concentrated on listening to the needs, so as to improve the relationship and the accompaniment of the users in the process of information fruition.
Metropolis WEB is built on a web-based platform, which allows for greater mobility on both the server side (as it can be installed on Microsoft operating systems or Linux), and the client side (it can be accessed through the most common browsers (Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, etc). being web-based. This type of platform can be installed on both client-server architectures and stand-alone computers.
The platform has several advantages as the operators will be able to work with easily accessible browser and web pages, making this kind of system more immediate and preferable than the client-dedicated software.
Databases Functionality
By Metropolis WEB you can:
- Search for detailed information on the main areas of citizens interest: training; work, rights and social life, travel and holidays, youth mobility; citizen Information, study and life abroad;
- Consult the detailed fact sheet for any required information as you can access a screen to visualize the data in detail. It's also possible to view the hyperlinks associated to the specific fact sheet, such as links to internet web pages, email addresses or other documents (file format used by Microsoft Word (.doc), Open Office (.odt), Adobe Acrobat (pdf) etc.);
- Select the data, either manually or through the help of an internal search engine. It’s possible to select / deselect each fact sheet included in the databases;
- View and print (with the display of the print preview) all selected information and fact sheets;
- Manage users. Metropolis WEB includes an effective management system of users. The capabilities of the users’ management have been optimized in order to facilitate the integration of real-time data, allowing the extrapolation of statistics data.
Maintenance and data updating
The database containing the information base of Metropolis WEB is physically installed in the computer used by the Operator (stand-alone mode) or in the local server (client / server mode in the network). Therefore, all the required information should be available and updated on the hard disk of computers used by the operators as well as quickly accessible and without the need for a constant Internet connection. In addition, in order to ensure that the data have validity over time, especially for short-term validity information (e.g. private job opportunities, competitions..) the following features have been integrated:
a) Updating: Weekly updating of data (downloadable via html, through the company website, or via e-mail) contained in Metropolis Web. It’s a self-extracting package that automatically performs all the necessary update operations.
b) Purging: This function allows you to delete expire and information not required from the database (e.g. expired competitions, no longer valid job offers).
c) Updates Verification: This function allows you to verify the correct sequence of updates: each update will be tracked in a register, once executed.
Costs
The fee for the services related to Metropolis Web information system includes:
- Hire charge for databases management software to be used for the Youth Information and Citizen Information Services, including management software for users census;
- Hire charge for databases included in Metropolis Web software;
- Periodic updating of databases via Studio e Progetto 2 website (www.studioprogetto2.it);
- Technical support service for software and databases performed by the Data Processing Center of our Co-operative;
- Telephone support service;
- Training for operator on the proper use of the database performed by our Co-operative.
The determination of the cost for the hiring services mentioned above, if requested by a private subject, is made according to the characteristics of the service to be activated.
